Jean Paul Gaultier - SS1994 - Runway Denim Deconstructed Jean's Vest (One Of)- RUNWAY
This vintage Jean Paul Gaultier denim vest is from the Spring Summer 1994 collection called “Les Tatouages”, one of the most referenced collection in his career.
This particular vest was THE ONE presented on the runway, that makes it the only one in the world and it also was featured in ELLE magazine in February 1994 in "The Shape of Spring", editorial with Maayan Keret, Sarah O'Hare, Jenny Shimizu and unknowns.
It was purchased directly from the management of back then. They informed me that it was the only made and that is why it had to travel from the runway to the editorial shoots. It is remarkable that we have been able to trace it back to its origins.
THIS IS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN FASHION S HISTORY.
Jean Paul Gaultier himself wore a similar vest in 1994 and was photographed while meeting Lady Bunny at an after party.
The Vest is made of jeans that wear deconstructed and cut before being reshaped into a vest. The buttons are SO wide and beautiful. The denim is thick and hold its shape, the lining is made of a silk gaze like material. The top is fitted but the bottom flairs out and it s really comfortable. My favorite details is the brand tag being sewn on the outside, like on most of his “Trompe L’oeil” pieces. Vivienne Westwood had done it as well in the 90s for her main line and I loved it too. A real 90s detail.
Armpits: 18 “
Bottom flair: 40”
